Prince - elderly greyhound seeks comfort and kindness

Beautiful Prince is a very elderly greyhound. He is gentle and quiet and just wants a soft bed and a kind owner for his last few years.

Update, 6 March 2011: Prince has been homed and we are hopeful that he'll settle in well.

Matt and Gloss

Matt and Gloss were never featured on the blog, but we have been able to home them recently, and their new owner has sent us this lovely email:

"Hi Mary

"Ref our telecon this evening, I've now managed to take a few photos of the girls. I will send one with this email and the others as separate emails. They really are such lovely cats, so very affectionate and great fun. As I write this, Matt is asleep on the sofa and Gloss is sitting next to me and is very interested in the keyboard!!

"Thank you so much for letting us take them. We will cherish and love them.

"All the best
"Sue"

We are very happy they've found such a great new home, especially as they are both black cats, who are much harder to home than any other colour. Many thanks to Sue for adopting them.

Lucy

This little darling needs a home. She is called Lucy, a wirehaired terrier girl, is nine years old (or a bit more). She is good with children, but not keen on cats or other dogs. She prefers playing indoors to the park.

Update, 18 February 2011: Lucy has found a great new home and is doing very well.

And no, we haven't turned into Dogs in Crisis, honest...

Rosie: fun-loving sweetie

Rosie is a real little sweetie, not yet a year old. She is long-haired, so needs someone who can groom her. She is a fun loving girl, but plays gently. She would like a relatively sedate home please.

Update, 31 January 2011: Rosie has gone to a new home today, where she is going to live with a nice family, which includes an elderly dog (Rosie had never seen one before) and a ferret (likewise).

Mr Tom Cat - Ramsgate stray

Mr Tom Cat was picked up in Ramsgate as a stray and to date has not been claimed. He is not microchipped and we are arranging for him to be neutered, as he is a full tom. In fact, we think he was out looking for a girl friend when he was found.

Mr Tom Cat looks slightly oriental and has a bit of a yowl when he talks. He is a nice chap, probably only about a year old.

Update, 31 January 2011: great news! Mr Tom Cat's temporary foster mum likes him so much, she has adopted him for good.

Cody (he's now called Flynn)

Cody is a delightful young chap of 7 months. He was recently neutered and is now in a foster home, as his original owners literally threw him out when they came home with the new baby.

Cody is an absolute sweetheart and really does deserve a better home than he had in the past.

Update, 24 January 2011: Cody (now called Flynn) has just found a lovely new home in Deal, with a young female who wasn't featured on the blog.

A Christmas message from Nelson and Mistletoe's new family

It's always fantastic when people write to us about the cats they've adopted. Rosie and Bubbles never made it onto the blog (we have so many cats that need new homes!), but we really enjoyed the letter their new family wrote us:

"Dear Mary,

"Thank you so much for the dear little kitties my daughter and husband got from you just before Christmas - they were apparently named Rosie & Bubbles, but we have renamed them Nelson and Mistletoe! They've settled in really well.

"They are so well behaved and affectionate and filled a huge emptiness after we lost our dear old cat about a month ago. I'm going to try to attempt to send you a couple of photo's now - I hope this works!

"Thank you again, Mandy & Peter"

Amber and Misty

Amber (right) and Misty (below) are Persian sisters, about seven years old, who must stay together. They need to find a new home because their owners have recently acquired two noisy dogs, who intimidate the cats.

Amber and Misty like to be spoilt and fussed, but are understandably a bit edgy at the moment. They need a quiet home with owners who have enough time and patience to keep them well groomed.

Update, 9 January 2011: we have recently learned that Misty and Amber have been homed directly by their owners.

Clarence: a dude with (c)attitude

Clarence - could you offer a home to this feisty, over the top, in your face, determined, difficult and utterly delightful cross-eyed Bengal type cat?

He needs a very firm but loving home environment and a very safe location, as he wants to wander. He is extremely affectionate with adults, but not suitable for a home with small children. He is likely to bully neighbouring cats (and possibly dogs as well). Just look at those claws!

Clarence needs someone who is experienced in handling this type of demanding breed.

Update, 9 January 2011: Clarence has found a new home with some kind new owners living in a semi-rural location and with any luck he will settle in well.

Sable and Snuggles

Snuggles was the runt of her litter and had health problems early on. She is now fine and has become great friends with Sable - they would like to go together to a quiet, gentle owner.

Sable, a beautiful young chap, very friendly and gentle, is always overlooked by potential new owners, just because he is black. (You may not believe it, looking at the picture of this little chap, but it is really hard to get black cats adopted.)

Update, 7 January 2011: Sable and Snuggles weren't homed together in the end, but they each found a new home last weekend and have settled in well. In fact, Sable has moved in with your blog editor and is now called Eddie...
